Never Fail Chocolate Slice

This is a wonderful recipe because it doesn't matter how good a cook you are, it will always come out! It does turn out differently each time, sometimes crispy sometimes more cake-like, but it always tastes fantastic and the kids always request it. You can ice it, but it tastes great without so I don't bother.

Never Fail Chocolate Slice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain flour (doesn't matter if it's wholemeal or even if you've only got self raising flour it still works!)
  • 1/2 cup sugar(doesn't matter what type, you can even use honey)
  • 1 cup of desiccated coconut
  • 1 tablespoon Cacao powder
  • 185gm butter(or 3/4 cup of oil, I once made it with Flannerys organic coconut oil and it was delicious)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

Preparation

  1. Sift(or don't) the dry ingredients into a bowl and add melted butter and vanilla and mix well.
  2. Put in a lamington tin and press down.
  3. Depending upon your oven, bake in a 180C degree oven for approx 30 - 45 mins, or which a knife inserted comes out clean.
  4. Turn onto a tray to cool before cutting into squares and letting the troops at it!
