Chinese Facial Diagnostics

Insight into the internal self

The Chinese face map has long been used by eastern practitioners as a diagnostic tool for gaining insight into the health of an individual. Much like reflexology, the face too has areas reflecting different parts of the internal body.

Colours, lines, swellings and spots are all signs used to determine underlying weaknesses and deficiencies.

For example, dark shades of blue under the eyes relates to the exhaustion and imbalance of the kidney organ meridian system which governs the adrenal glands. This can cause symptoms of fatigue and stress or could simply be an indication of dehydration.

Blood pressure, while regulated by the hormones of the kidney, when imbalanced directly affects the health of the heart. Often patients with high blood pressure present with swollen red noses, thus giving the practitioner an insight into circulatory health.

The skin is the largest eliminating organ of the body, when other eliminating organs such as the Liver, Kidneys and Bowels are overworked the skin takes on the role of elimination.

The forehead, on the chinese face map, represents the liver and gall bladder. Premature lines and an oily film in these areas can give an indication of over consumption of rich, oily fatty foods, causing stress to these organs and creating skin congestion.
