Flannerys says no to environmentally unfriendly plastic bags.

We've made the change to Starch-based 100% Compostable Bags.

Flannerys says no to environmentally unfriendly plastic bags. Made from certified compostable bioplastics, the bags are made from renewable resources and safely turn into healthy compost in just 12 weeks. They can also be discarded within domestic food-waste bins. The bags ultimately turn into carbon dioxide, water, and non-toxic raw materials.

One feature of the compostable starch-based bags is that they "breathe" without leaking. This unique benefit allows heat and moisture to evaporate, which keeps food "fresher" longer. Try using biodegradable /compostable bags for storing your fruits and vegetables.

Store your vegetables to maintain freshness, and then use the same bag to line your composting bin. The more we "use and use again", products the better it is for the planet. Bags meet international standards for compostability, including Australia’s AS 4736; Europe’s EN 13432, the USA’s ASTM D 6400 and Japan’s GreenPla.

Why do we offer disposable bags at all?

Of course, the most sustainable solution of all is to bring your own reusable canvas or cotton carry bags and we encourage you to do so. We all understand that reusable shopping bags are more environmentally responsible than disposable paper bags or plastic bags. It is an unfortunate fact and a commercial reality however that retail stores must offer disposable carry bags of some type or other, and by choosing starch-based 100% compostable bags, we are making the best choice for the environment.

Stainless Steel Drinking Bottles

Cheeki - Cheeki - Cheeki

Cheeki is a fresh new Australian-owned brand that was launched with the aim of supplying safe, healthy and fun stainless steel bottles with BPA-free non-leaching polypropylene lids.

As a result we hope to encourage a significantly reduced consumption of disposable plastic water bottles. Unless disposable plastic bottles are incinerated, they will be around in landfills, oceans and parks for hundreds of years.

You only need to refill your Cheeki bottle approximately five times as compared to purchasing five bottled waters to ‘break even’.

Dishwasher Safe – but best not to put the lids in the dishwasher, the rubber washer doesn’t like it!

She is special and not just today but every day

Mothers Day 9th May 2010 Mother's Day is the time to honour and cherish the special bond of love that you and your mother share.

A mother does so much for her children, the least one can do is acknowledge her hard work and her selfless love for you.

It is the perfect occasion to pamper your mom with special gifts and lots of love. And not just your mother, one should also take this opportunity to indulge all women who have loved and cared for you like a mother. This may include your grandmother, mother-in-law, aunts, sisters, colleagues, teachers and the other mother figures in your life.

We at Flannerys love this time of year because we have all the products that will make your Mum feel and look Special, we can also give you advice on what to get her that WILL make her feel special!

Acupuncture May Aid Cancer Therapy

Acupuncture May Aid Cancer Therapy

Australian researchers will investigate whether women undergoing treatment for breast cancer can benefit from acupuncture. Trials overseas have shown the ancient Chinese therapy can help to combat the fatigue caused by conventional cancer treatments, says Associate Professor Caroline Smith. Australian recruits are now sought for a pilot study looking for further evidence that acupuncture can reduce the often long-term side-effects of chemotherapy.
