Rose and rose hip oil have traditionally been used for skin repair. It is more common for rose hip oil to be used for this problem as it contains a unique blend of essential fatty acids that may aid in skin renewal and regeneration.

Stretch marks appear when the skin is stretched to the point where the elastic fibres incur damage. This is more common in periods of quick growth such as puberty, weight gain or pregnancy. The use of an oil based product which contains vitamins and oil implicated in skin repair can increase the suppleness of the skin and aid in reducing marks on the skin such as scars and stretch marks.

Rub the oil into the affected area two or three times a day. Benefits generally take some time to become apparent, so be patient. However, you may well see a significant improvement in your stretch marks in a few months. Exfoliation and encouraging circulation in the area may also reduce the appearance of the stretch marks.

You may also wish to supplement your diet with products that encourage collagen repair, growth and tissue repair. These include the use of silica in supplemental form, Vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin A and the use of essential fatty acids like fish oil, flaxseed oil or evening primrose oil internally.
