I've been reading that nettle tea can help with hemorrhoids, but all the health food shops I've been to can't seem to find any literature on this. Can you tell me if this is true?

An interesting question. After reviewing several monographs and studies on Nettle to make sure there wasn't an application that I did not know of, I have the following information to offer.

Traditional uses of nettles include its use in urinary disorders of both males and females. It does however have an application as a nutritive and haemostatic. This would apply to heamorrhoids if there was bleeding and iron stores loss. It has been used traditionally for anaemia and conditions involving blood loss. In terms of the treatment of heamorrhoids there are other mores specific herbs that I would use over nettle as a herb.

These would include topical application of witch hazel, the use of Vitamin C to tone vessels and stop bleeding, high antioxidant herbs like grape seed extract, horsechestnut, bilberry and pine bark extract.

It is also important to look at general bowel habits, fibre intake and water.
